The P.O.L.A.R. (Professional Operators Learning And Resource) Club
Is an organization of trucking professionals interested in learning more about the business of trucking. The purpose of the organization is to help individual truckers (company drivers, lease operators, owner/operators and small motor carriers) to improve their business by learning, networking and working together. Success through Knowledge, Strength through Information. Together helping to change the industry to provide greater opportunity and profitability to the small operator is our long range goal.

The BUZZ word on the highway the last two weeks is "strike"..drivers, owner operators, small trucking companies are sick of watching the price of everything (especially fuel and related products) get higher every day, while our income stays the same.
Nobody I've talked to can give me a good reason why diesel fuel keeps going up.We all know it's cheaper than gasoline to refine yet it cost more than gas.
Anyway as far as the strike goes, it'll start April 1 and go until Friday the 4th.
I've seen these strikes attempted before, the late seventies was the best attempt, but all it did was cause fights between drivers and companies while the Government and brokers worked business as usual.
I don't have any answers, I do know that fighting among ourselves gets nothing accomplished. If strike is the only way, then we must all agree to strike and follow through.
Something has to be done or the independent trucker will become extinct like the Cowboy of the 1800's.
I personally would hate to see big business/Government take over the trucking industry, but I'm afraid that's where we are headed.
God Bless the independent businesses that is what made America what it used to be.

American Rig Radio, due to the question of legality, does not condone any trucker strike as a means of solving the trucking industry’s problem.
We believe a better solution to the many problems is a better understanding of business principles by both truckers and trucking companies. Then applying those principles on a consistent basis.
Knowledge is Strength.
